2020 fue tal vez el año en que retomé bastante WWE, refiriéndome a los shows semanales porque durante los últimos años sólo traté de ver los PPV y alguna lucha decente que sucediera en los shows de TV y que eran recomendadas en distintos foros. AEW World Title #1 Contender’s Tournament Finals 

Kenny Omega vs “Hangman” Adam Page: 

 

 Buen combate aunque no lo encontré tan especialmente grande cómo otros, pero estaba bien para ser el opener del show. Adam Page y Kenny Omega sostuvieron una lucha de intercambios de golpes fuertes seguramente buscando noquear y logran tener secuencias buenas sobre todo en la parte final del match. Siento que se trabajó un poco sobre la actitud y transición a rudo de Omega pues por momentos mostraba aquellos gestos cómo estar hablando sólo de forma frustrada que vimos en su etapa de The Cleaner y esto sucedía principalmente en aquellos momentos donde Page lo supera. Al final ambos buscaron aplicar su movida final tras varios golpes directos a la cabeza, finalmente Omega es quien aplicando el One Winged Angel se lleva la victoria. *** 

 

Orange Cassidy vs John Silver:

 

Lucha bastante entretenida, la tìpica de Orange Cassidy pero lo realmente interesante aquí era John Silver y no digo que él me sorprendiera porque hace años conocía su performance in ring, pero era bueno verlo tener una oportunidad en PPV y además de eso lucir tan bien. Básicamente la lucha se trató de Silver saliendo a demostrar lo fuerte que es a pesar de su estatura y termina ganándose algunas ovaciones gracias a lo bueno que es. Al final Silver logra que Cassidy se tome la lucha en serio y logra sorprenderlo aún así, pero finalmente Orange con el Beach Break se lleva la victoria. **½ 

 

AEW TNT Championship 

Cody Rhodes (c) vs Darby Allin: 

 

Cody y Darby Allin han tenido un par de luchas buenas en 2020 y creo que esta está por el mismo nivel aunque se siente algo más importante. Cody Rhodes salió a mostrar nada de respeto a su rival y se mostró confiado en la mayor parte del match al mantener dominado a Darby haciendo daño al brazo, lo cual este vendió bastante bien lanzando ataques desesperados con su brazo inmovilizado. La lucha cuenta con buenos spots de azotes brutales de Cody contra Darby, entre eso un Cross Rhodes desde la tercera cuerda. Al final Cody en su exceso de confianza cae en una serie de Roll Ups en donde Darby sorpresivamente se lleva la victoria. Tras la lucha Cody reconoció a Darby cómo nuevo monarca pero fueron atacados por Brian Cage y Ricky Starks. *** 

 

AEW Women’s World Championship

Hikaru Shida (c) vs Nyla Rose (c/Vickie Guerrero):

 

Buen match, por el nivel de la lucha anterior, Hikaru Shida salió a buscar un Brawl y no dejó respirar a Nyla lanzándole golpes brigidos desde el primer momento, la situación únicamente cambió con la interferencia de Vickie Guerrero, que permitió a Nyla enfocar su ofensiva a la rodilla de Shida, lo que prolongó un poco el match pero Nyla nunca logró ser superior a Shida y la campeona poco a poco fue retomando su superioridad, Vickie trató de interferir nuevamente pero la referee no se lo permitió y Shida con un montón de rodillazos derrotó a Nyla. *** 

 

AEW World Tag Team Championship 

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (c) (c/Tully Blanchard) vs The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson): 

 

Muy buen match, seguramente el mejor de la noche a pesar de que por partes si siento que estaba extendiéndose más de lo necesario porque cómo que se quedaban en lo mismo por varios minutos. FTR salió esperando recibir a los clásicos Young Bucks que salen a lanzar patadas pero terminan encontrándose con una versión más agresiva y con menos ataques aéreos y de velocidad cómo es habitual por lo que los campeones tienen que replantearse lo que tenían preparado en el match y esto los lleva a algunos errores en su ofensiva, pero así mismo los Bucks en este estilo también caen en algunos errores y sin exagerar poco a poco van logrando implementar un poco de lo que están acostumbrados. La lucha entonces pasa a tener varios spots referenciando a Tag Teams famosos, entre los que realmente me sorprende DIY. Al final siento que los Bucks superan a FTR y estos básicamente están resistiendo y esperando un error, pero finalmente el error llega por parte de FTR al traicionar uno de sus lemas, el No Flips, porque Wheeler sorprende a todos al realizar un Springboard 450 que termina fallando para luego recibir una Superkick con la cual cae derrotado. Buen match, un poco extenso para cómo se desarrolló, pero en general me gustó. ***½ 

 

The Elite Deletion Match 

“Broken” Matt Hardy vs Sammy Guevara: 

 

Me gustó bastante esto, claramente no se siente tan especial cómo el Final Deletion porque aquel fue el clásico que hizo famoso este tipo de luchas cinemáticas y de las cuales Matt Hardy se adueñó, a pesar de esto sigue sintiéndose especial y aunque en un inicio siento que iba por más de lo mismo, es en la construcción del final que me atrapa totalmente. Hardy es un genio en esto y logra que todo el lugar sea parte del match, el tipo nuevamente preparó todo el terreno para dominar a Sammy y es divertido verlos luchar de formas bizarras pero yendo al punto de hacerse daño físico y no hacer juegos mentales y jugar con la psicología llevando al rival a diferentes mundos y cosas así que es donde definitivamente el intento de lucha cinemática pasa a ser otra cosa. Los cameos de Gangrel y The Hurricane siendo parte del match me emocionaron o por lo menos sorprendieron y agradaron más que ver Santana y Ortiz peleando con Private Party y lo digo porque una parte del match se enfocó mucho en esto y cómo que era algo que no le interesaba a nadie ver, el punto aquí eran Hardy y Sammy. Al final Matt lleva a Sammy a una especie de bodega y lo encierra con él y me encanta que todo lo bizarro de Matt se justifica con tecnología, es decir sabemos que es cómo una especie de científico desquiciado y no un brujo de los pantanos por lo que todo está bien justificado. Sammy todo el tiempo trató de ir de frente y se entiende que por esto Matt alguna vez le mostró respeto, Sammy intenta vencer usando una de las famosas técnicas de Jeff Hardy, un Swanton desde lo alto de una escalera pero no consigue la victoria, pero la referencia que más me terminó de gustar en esto es cómo Matt termina masacrando a Sammy estallándolo contra el concreto y terminándolo con un silletazo dejándolo prácticamente muerto y no podía ser de otra forma, teniendo en cuenta que en las luchas anteriores entre ellos, Matt sufrió golpes gravísimos que pudieron porque no matarlo. El final con el Señor Benjamin y Reby haciendo presencia igual es algo que se siente necesario en esto. ***¼ 

 

MJF (c/Wardlow) vs Chris Jericho: 

 

Entretenida por momentos pero no fue la lucha más especial del show. Chris Jericho trabajó cómo el favorito de los fanáticos aquí y trató de ser un poco técnico, mientras que MJF fue el tipo que jugó sucio cuando pudo y aprovechó un error de Jericho para realizar la ofensiva al brazo. Creo que realmente no fueron a más, la idea era hacer una lucha no mala y lo consiguieron, al final MJF se lleva la victoria tras un Roll Up en una distracción de Jericho y cómo resultado logra entrar a Inner Circle. ** 

 

AEW World Championship - "I Quit" Match

Jon Moxley (c) vs Eddie Kingston: 

 

Una lucha que tal vez no pedíamos pero necesitábamos ver, si bien no es un MOTY para mi, creo que es un digno main event para el show. Inicialmente sentì que tener a Eddie Kingston en el main event como retador fue muy random, pero tan pronto empezó el match entendí la intención y no es que fuese muy difícil haberlo imaginado antes si conoces a Kingston. Básicamente tenemos a Kingston queriendo mostrar que es un tipo más duro que Moxley, pues ambos tienen un historial de luchas violentas en la época dorada de este tipo de matches, pero finalmente Moxley fue quien salió a triunfar en las grandes promociones, por lo que hay algo de recelo en Kingston. Me gusta que se fueron a lo brigido desde el inicio, es decir no me espero una lucha técnica de ellos dos y tampoco me traen la tìpica lucha “violenta” donde arman una torre de mesas para ser lanzados sobre ellas, si no que ambos buscan hacer rendir bien sea con un golpe dirigido a la cabeza lanzándose sillas o aplicar una llave con una alambre de púas en las manos. Al final todos los intentos de Kingston fracasan y Moxley logra dejarlo casi acabado con el Paradigm Shift, Kingston entiende que no puede hacer mucho más pero no le muestra respeto a Moxley a pesar de todo y el campeón terminó haciéndolo rendir con una llave usando un alambre. ***¼
